Ayesha Rumi (born 1991) is a visual artist currently based in Lahore, Pakistan. She completed her BFA from the Beaconhouse National University, Lahore and received a distinction for her efforts. Ayesha was then awarded a Graduate Fellowship at Syracuse University, New York where she completed her MFA in Studio Arts in 2021 and was valedictorian of her class graduating with a 4.0 GPA.
She uses contemporary forms of image-making to challenge narratives that have influenced identity in post-colonial societies. Ayesha’s focus is on combining various academic faculties to understand and decode the very society she lives in. Her work is based on generative discourse intentionally blurring the lines between fact and fiction, documentation and imagination. Ayesha has exhibited works both locally and internationally at various art institutions.
Her artwork is housed within the permanent collection of the Ambiance Boutique Art Hotels.
