Durrie Baloch (born 1997) is a new media artist, writer, and researcher currently based between Lahore and Quetta, Pakistan. She completed her BFA from the National College of Arts, Lahore in 2021 and received a Distinction for her efforts.
Durrie’s multidisciplinary practice explores themes of identity, culture, and existence, often translating everyday observations into digital animations, immersive installations, and experimental sound-based works. Rooted deeply in her Baloch heritage, she draws inspiration from the oral traditions and communal expressions of women in her hometown of Nushki, particularly their songs, chants, and storytelling forms-which continue to inform her contemporary approach to art-making. Durrie’s work has been exhibited extensively locally at various art institutions such as O Art Space, Lahore; The Vasl Gallery, Karachi; Lahore Digital Festival, Lahore; Mantiq of the Mantis, Lahore; Ejaz Art Gallery, Lahore; Lakir Gallery, Lahore; 8B2-by-Fatima Hamid, Islamabad; and Artciti Gallery, Karachi. She has participated in several national and international residencies, including the Vasl Museum of Sound Residency in Karachi in 2025, the Fearless Collective Residency in Colombo, Sri Lanka in 2025, the Han International Artist Residency, Turkey in 2023, and the International Painting Symposium, Horodnic de Sus, Suceava County, Romania, in 2024. Additionally, Durrie was selected for a leadership and feminist training program in 2024 with Sangat Nepal, in Kathmandu which has further shaped her belief in art as a tool for social change and cultural preservation.
As an ambassador for the Fearless Collective and a member of Sangat Nepal, she actively engages in artistic and educational initiatives focused on gender equity, storytelling, and community building. She is currently serving as a visiting faculty member at the National College of Arts, Lahore where she has been teaching drawing, printmaking, and art seminar courses and also manages the Fine Arts department’s digital platform.
Her artwork is housed in the permanent collection of the Ambiance Boutique Art Hotels. Read less
