Fatima Khalid is a visual artist and art educator currently based in Karachi, Pakistan. She completed her DFA from the Karachi School of Art, Karachi in 2016. Fatima then went on to pursue and complete an MA in History form Karachi University, Karachi in 2022 specialising in Hindu, Buddhist and Muslim Art and Architecture.
Her work is driven by an interest in human subjectivity across intersections of identity, spaces, body, image and their relationship with visual technologies. I explore these as, constituted "spaces", between historical and contemporary social surfaces. Working mostly through the mediums of gouache, ink and watercolour on Wasli paper, highlighting spaces which are collected from Mughal miniature paintings and European art. Fatima’s work has been exhibited in group shows locally and internationally, and been featured in various publications such as Nigah Art Magazine and Dawn News. She is currently a visiting lecturer at her alma mater the Karachi School of Art, Karachi where she teaches second-, third- and fourth-year students Minature Painting. Fatima previously worked as a full-time lecturer, leading the foundation year Diploma program from 2017 to 2020.
Fatima’s artwork is housed within the permanent collection of the Ambiance Boutique Art Hotels. Read less
