Imran Mughal (born 1987) is a visual artist and fashion designer based in Lahore, Pakistan. He completed his BFA in Textile Art and Design from the College of Art and Design, University of the Punjab, Lahore in 2010 where he received a distinction for his efforts. Imran then went on to pursue an MFA from the same institution graduating in 2012.
Folklore, pop art, human emotions, cultural practices and vivid imagination are what fuel Imran’s imagery. He uses music to help him move fearlessly between these strangely amazing creations of the human mind. Imran believes that inherited culture and taboos can make our thoughts stagnant and concrete and any shift that may question those ancient beliefs can be frightening, so most of the time we keep on re-inventing the same old tales with new facades. Through his creations, he advocates a more receptive approach to multiculturalism and diversity which may transport ourselves to a higher consciousness of immense creative human potential. Alongside allocating more time to his art practice, Imran has been actively networking within art circles and aims to establish his practice critically. As a fashion designer, he fearlessly uses his artistic freedom and be it his fabulous designs or canvases, his connection to indigenous art, pop culture and literature presented with contemporary execution is irresistible. He has worked with many established fashion brands as well as exhibited in several group shows at various galleries, locally.
His artwork is in the permanent collection of the Ambiance Boutique Art Hotels.
