Jawaria Nawaz (born 1996) is a visual artist and art educator currently based in Lahore, Pakistan. She completed her BFA in from the National College of Arts, Lahore in 2020 specialising in Printmaking and received an Honours for her efforts.
Jawaria's artistic practice revolves around print-based installations, delving into themes such as mythology, symbols, flora, fauna, folklore, and the absurd existential and societal aspects of life. Her creative journey is deeply rooted in her childhood experiences immersed in nature driven by an insatiable curiosity, Jawaria constantly explores new techniques and materials, pushing the boundaries of printmaking. Her overarching aim is to craft artworks that inspire a sense of wonder and foster a profound appreciation for both the natural world and the intricacies of the human experience with self. Jawaria's work has been exhibited extensively locally at various art institutions such as VM Art Gallery, Karachi; Pakistan National Council of Arts, Islamabad; Full Circle Gallery, Karachi; Anna Molka Gallery, Lahore; HAAM Gallery, Lahore; Muse Gallery, Lahore; Art Chowk Gallery, Lahore and others. She has previously worked at the Lahore Biennale Foundation, Lahore in 2020 after her graduation. Jawaria has also been invited to judge various art competitions. She is a permanent Artist in Residence of the Inkster Print Studio, Lahore. In addition to her printmaking endeavors, Jawaria is also an accomplished photographer.
