Khalid Soomro (born 1986) is a multi-disciplinary artist, curator, communication designer, art restorer and art educator currently based in Karachi, Pakistan. He completed his BFA in Communication Design from the Institute of Art & Design, University of Sindh Jamshoro in 2009.
Khalid has had an illustrious career in the fields of art, design, heritage, research, education, curation, restoration and craft. He was part of the Mohatta Palace Museum team from 2013 to 2020, where he worked on the major exhibitions showcased at the museum. Khalid has also previously worked for Mukhe House in Hyderabad to convert it into a museum and designed a campaign based on his research about Mohen-Jo-Daro. He has restored more than 60 paintings by old masters and 35 Gandhara sculptures. Alongside his art and design practice, Khalid has previously taught at Sindh Madressatul Islam University, Karachi and Iqra University, Karachi. He is currently a faculty member of the Millennium Institute of Technology and Entrepreneurship, Karachi and the Visual Studies Department at the University of Karachi, Karachi.
His artwork is housed in the permanent collection of the Ambiance Boutique Art Hotels. Read less
