Maisam Hussain (born 1997) is a visual artist, sculptor and art educator currently based in Lahore, Pakistan. He completed his BFA from the National College of Arts, Lahore in 2021 specialising in Sculpture and received a distinction for his efforts.
Maisam’s art practice focuses on using gunpowder and exploring different surfaces with raw materials commonly found in weaponry. Having grown up in the war-affected city of Parachinar, his artistic journey has been deeply influenced by the challenges and experiences of his upbringing. The echoes of war have served as both a haunting muse and an indomitable source of inspiration for the artist. Maisam’s work has been exhibited extensively locally at various art institutions. He is currently a Faculty Member at the National College of Arts, Lahore where he is the lead instructor teaching the Foundation Year Sculpture. Additionally, Maisam has joined the Alhamra Art Center, Lahore as a sculpture studio teacher and instructor.
His artwork is housed in the permanent collection of the Ambiance Boutique Art Hotels. Read less
