Omer Faheem (born 2001) is a visual artist currently based in Lahore, Pakistan. He completed his B.Des. in Textile and Fiber studies from the Beaconhouse National University, Lahore in 2024.
Omer growing up, has always been super passionate about cars which is a passion that he shares with his father. Together, they have bought more than eighteen diverse cars over the past couple of years purely out of passion instead of viewing them as financial investments. In his artistic practice, Omer captures the essence of this passion and shared journey in a sustainable, eco-friendly way by diverting scrap from used cars away from landfills towards creative industries, thereby reducing the amount of waste that ends up at these sites. By welding together used car parts and employing various textile techniques he has made a larger-than-life-sized sculpture in which hard, rusty car parts are juxtaposed against soft, detailed fabrics and yarns, as the tough and tender converse together allowing viewers to reflect on a machine we use every single day called a ‘car’. According to Omer, his sculpture can be summed up in the old saying “Turning trash into treasure is the ultimate alchemy of creativity”.
His artwork is housed within the permanent collection of the Ambiance Boutique Art Hotels. Read less
