Riaz Ali (born 1998) is a visual artist currently based in Lahore, Pakistan. He completed his BFA in Visual Arts from the Beaconhouse
National University, Lahore in 2021.
Riaz works with the mediums of painting, performance art, and photography. His practice revolves around three archetypes ‘the
surgeon’, ‘the surgery’, and ‘the operation theatre’ which he likens to the artist, the subject, and space. In this manner, he explores the surgeon as an
artist that works on human bodies instead of canvases. Since graduating, Riaz has taken part in various art residencies and exhibitions most notably the Tasweerghar Art Residency, Lahore in 2021. Moreover, his artwork was displayed in the 17thEmerging Talent Exhibition at VM Art Gallery, Karachi in 2021; and the International Conference and Art Festival for promoting Social Cohesion and Interfaith Harmony at the Pakistan National Council of Arts, Islamabad in 2022. Additionally, he was recently awarded Top 10 best Artworks at Alhamra 18th Young Artist’s Exhibition 2022 presented by Alhamra Arts Council, Lahore in 2022. As a young artist, Riaz is passionate about representing his country via his artwork on various platforms throughout the world.
His artworks are housed within the permanent collection of the Ambiance Boutique Art Hotels.
