Sirrah Ali (born 1992) is a visual artist and educator currently based in Faisalabad, Pakistan. She completed her BFA from the Kinnaird College University, Lahore in 2013. Sirrah then went on to pursue and complete her MA in Visual Arts from the National College of Arts, Lahore in 2017.
Most of Sirrah’s inspiration for abstract painting comes from her inner feelings, evoked through everyday situations and experiences that deeply affect her. According to her, her abstract paintings are a reflection of intimate family moments, professional experiences, travel adventures, local and world events as well as her very personal inner thoughts and feelings. The visual vocabulary Sirrah utilises depicts her day-to-day life with textures, colours, and shapes. Furthermore, colours and shapes play a critical role in Sirrah’s paintings depicting the story she is trying to narrate. Layers of paint help her form a nostalgic relationship with those memories that have had an everlasting impact on her life and she uses her skills to preserve these in line with her own perception and gestural painting style. The paintings differ in scale with the variation in memories associated with her past. Sirrah has exhibited her works locally and internationally in a number of group exhibitions.
At present, Sirrah is a lecturer at the National Textile University, Faisalabad, and also maintains her practice side by side. Her artwork is housed within the permanent collection of the Ambiance Boutique Art Hotels.
