Sumbul Natalia (born 1993) is a visual artist, writer, researcher and curator currently based in Lahore, Pakistan. She completed her B.Des in Visual Communication Design from the Punjab University College of Art and Design, Lahore in 2017. Sumbul then went on to pursue and complete her MPhil in Cultural Studies from the National College of Arts, Lahore in 2022. She is currently pursuing a PhD in Art and Design at the Punjab University College of Art and Design, Lahore.
Sumbul’s deep interest in the South Asian Art History drives her art and research practice which revolves around exploring and tracing the roots and routes of South Asian visual and material culture. She has exhibited her artworks extensively locally at various art institutions. Sumbul has taught at several art institutes and currently serves as a lecturer in the Visual Communication Design Department at National College of Arts, Lahore. She is also the co-founder and curator at the Karbath Artist Residency Program. Sumbul also writes for different art magazines including ArtNow, The Karachi Collective, Nigaah Art and ADA magazine.
Her artwork is housed in the permanent collection of the Ambiance Boutique Art Hotels. Read less
